Ireland Rugby on the Brink of St Pat’s Day Glory!

A Six Nations triumph looks to be heading Ireland’s way for the first time since 2015, and, if results elsewhere go their way, Joe Schmidt’s team could have it wrapped up this weekend.

The likely climax is an St Patrick’s Day showdown with England, but, as the only unbeaten side, Schmidt’s men are hot favourites to win to competition at betting odds of 1.25 while England is the only real contender at 3.00. If Scotland manage to beat Ireland in Dublin this weekend, that will all change, but it’d be one of the shock rugby results of all time.

European Six Nations Round 4

Ireland vs Scotland

Gregor Townsend’s Scotland arrives in Dublin after back-to-back wins, the last a rare victory over England. But winning away to Ireland would be an even bigger achievement. If you ignore Italy (a bit unfair I know), the Scots have only had two wins on their travels in 18 years! The Irish ran in five tries to get a bonus point last time out against Wales as Ulster back Jacob Stockdale scoring twice, and I expect a loud home crowd will roar them on to more success.

France vs England

This is one of the great sporting rivalries. The French and English can never decide whether they are friends of foes, but this weekend they are definitely foes! Eddie Jones will expect his team to get back on track and target the giant French pack, attempting to win the game through greater speed and agility. Skipper Dylan Hartley misses out with a calf strain so Owen Farrell will lead the team while France make just one change, bringing in fly-half Francois Trinh-Duc.

Wales vs Italy

Italy are rock bottom with three defeats and a heavy points deficit of -85, so Wales should add to their resounding opening day win over Scotland. They gave Ireland a good game last time out, with Gareth Davies and Leigh Halfpenny on the points. Compare their 37-27 defeat with Italy’s 56-19 thumping by the Irish and you can see which way this is going…
