Ulsan Hyundai vs Gwangju FC

Ulsan Hyundai have a golden opportunity on their hands.

They have a chance to widen the gap between them and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, and they can do so when they beat their visitors in Gwangju FC this Sunday.

The Horangi have been on top for quite some time. As of the moment, they have 45 points and they lead by four points over the defending champions.

Look down on a few notches and you’ll see Gwangju FC who are currently at the seventh spot on the K-League table. The Griffins have 20 points and they are level with the eight-seeded FC Seoul.

This is Ulsan Hyundai’s second fixture of a three-game homestand before making a trip to visit the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. Hence, they are keen on grabbing as much points as they can in the next few matchdays.

Gwangju FC have the same agenda too, and they will look to build off momentum in order to maintain their progress as we approach the later stages of the 2020 season.

Here is today’s K-League match preview courtesy of SBOTOP.

Talking Points

Ulsan Hyundai making their march towards the title

Kim Do-hoon’s men are having a season for the ages. Ulsan Hyundai have lost only one game so far and they aren’t showing signs of slowing down.

In fact, they are better off at this point of the season compared to last year, with 45 points – four points clear over Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

However, the Horangi know that the job is not done yet especially with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors continue to play catch up behind them, so they must carry on if they’ll seal the deal.

Their attack has been the best in the league as they’ve generated 41 goals as of the moment. Junior Negrao has been playing at an extremely high level and he leads the league with 21 goals.

Defence is not an issue too for Ulsan, as they’ve only conceded the league-best 11 goals.

Coming into this match, Kim Do-hoon will have to make some key lineup decisions.

Against FC Seoul, the Ulsan manager drew big contributions from Koh Myong-jin and Park Jeong-in when Hong Chul and Yoon Bit-garam were rested on the bench.

He may use the said midfield duo once more or he may opt to go for a more experience combination this time around.

At the front, Kim Do-hoon may designate Bjorn Johnsen as their starting striker again while Junior Negrao can be brought off the bench as their sparkplug.

Gwangju FC making steady progress

The one thing that has been going well lately for Gwangju FC is their work on the defencive end.

Although they’ve conceded 27 goals as of this writing, the centre-back pairing of Rustamjon Ashurmatov and Hong Joon-ho has been able to frustrate some of the teams in the top half of the table.

One of the teams that they’ve made uncomfortable were Ulsan Hyundai to where they held them in a 1-1 draw.

In addition, Gwangju FC have been improving on the attack too with the presence of Felipe, Willyan, and Eom Wong-sang.

Eom Wong-sang has been enjoying a breakthrough campaign this season. The U-22 prospect’s pace and football IQ has generated opportunities for his other teammates to score.

Particularly in their previous game against Daegu FC, Gwangju FC’s potential was shown in full display.

In a game that ended with a 6-4 tally filled with K-League 2020 highlights, Gwangju FC let out a barrage of goals in the second half as they grabbed their fifth victory of the season.

It’s highly unlikely that they’ll replicate such effort anytime soon. But if they’ll find their groove this weekend, watch out.

History

Ulsan Hyundai and Gwangju FC have played so far in 16 matches.

The Horangi dominate this head-to-head matchup with 10 wins while the Griffins have won only once along with five draws.

Four of their last five matches ended with identical 1-1 scorelines.

Betting Tip

??
Ulsan Hyundai vs Gwangju FC Ulsan Hyundai Asian Handicap -1.00 @ 1.91
September 6, 18:00(GMT+8)

The K-League 2020 odds clearly favour Ulsan Hyundai to win this weekend. The home team is priced at 1.53 while their visitors are at 5.80 and a draw is pegged at 3.90 in the 1×2 market.

You may also fancy placing your bets on Over 2.50 @ 1.77 or Total Goal 2-3 @ 1.64 given the scorers present on both sides.

This couldn’t come any better for the Horangi as they will play at home where they have been formidable all season long.

And with their lineup being head over shoulders above the rest of the competition, they should take care of business with a victory this Sunday.

A SHORT EXPLANATION ON HOW OUR (??) BETS ARE WORTH:
?? = €20 (Highly confident) ?? = €10 (CONFIDENT) ?? = €5 (SOMEWHAT CONFIDENT)
