VfB Stuttgart vs Bayern Munich

VfB Stuttgart are one Bundesliga victory away from securing their spot in the Champions League next season. However, they will have to earn it against Bayern Munich when these two sides meet at the MHPArena on Saturday.

Die Schwaben have fallen to third in the standings and are likely to stay there because they’ve dropped points in recent weeks. That is because VfB Stuttgart lost 2-1 to Werder Bremen and were held to a 2-2 draw by Bayer Leverkusen.

On the other hand, Bayern Munich are on a three-game winning streak in the German top-flight, and they’re coming off a thrilling 2-2 draw against Real Madrid last night in the Champions League semi-finals.

Sebastian Hoeneß’s men need this win more than Thomas Tuchel, although we wouldn’t be surprised if the Bavarians didn’t get the memo.

Talking Points

Kim needs a bounceback performance for Bayern Munich

Kim Min-Jae had to fill in for Matthijs de Ligt in the starting XI, who picked up an injury against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, and he had a performance against Real Madrid that he would like to forget.

The South Korean centre-back was slammed by Thomas Tuchel for being responsible for Real Madrid’s goals, as he couldn’t keep Vinicius Jr. in front of him for the opening goal, and he conceded the game-tying penalty when he fouled Rodrygo inside the box, even if Eric Dier was in a great position to help.

Unfortunately for Bayern Munich, Thomas Tuchel has no choice but to retain Kim Min-Jae in the starting XI since Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano are doubtful to play this weekend. Kim should use this as a chance to redeem himself and return to Tuchel’s good graces.

Serge Gnabry, Alphonso Davies, and Raphael Guerreiro all came off the bench against Real Madrid, and they’re all in contention to start, while Mathys Tel and Aleksandar Pavlovic are additional options off the bench for Bayern Munich.

Harry Kane will continue to start up front, and he can add on to his league-leading tally this season of 35 goals. With at least a 10-goal lead over the rest of the pack, the Englishman is likely to win this year’s Golden Boot.

VfB Stuttgart’s Chris Fuhrich boosting his stock

Serhou Guirassy and Deniz Undav have been basking in the VfB Stuttgart spotlight this season, but let’s not forget Chris Fuhrich, one of their unsung heroes.

The 26-year-old German international is one of the team’s tactically flexible players, as he can play in the centre of the park or in the wings. Fuhrich is Die Schwaben’s third-leading scorer with eight goals and seven assists this term.

Because of his fine performances, Fuhrich has attracted suitors in the open market this summer, and Bayern Munich are one of them.

Fuhrich has a €23.5 million release clause on his contract that the Bavarians can trigger to strengthen their attack, especially if they sell Kingsley Coman or Serge Gnabry in the summer. This is another big decision that VfB Stuttgart have to make this upcoming offseason.

History

Bayern Munich defeated VfB Stuttgart with a 3-0 scoreline in their reverse fixture last December, as Harry Kane (brace) and Kim Min-Jae found the back of the net, despite only having 37-per cent of the ball.

The Bavarians have won 69 of their 109 Bundesliga games against Die Schwaben (D22, L18), which is the most in their German top-flight history.

If Thomas Tuchel’s men win again this weekend, Bayern Munich will be guaranteed a record-extending 11th runner-up finish. On the other hand, a loss will secure VfB Stuttgart’s first season of Champions League football since 2009-10.

Betting Tip

The Bundesliga 2024 odds predict a close fight between VfB Stuttgart and Bayern Munich on Saturday. VfB Stuttgart were given the slight edge at 2.13 since they will probably be more motivated to win, but Bayern Munich are at 2.84 odds, and a draw is at 3.55 in the 1X2 market.

We feel that this could go either way. However, one thing is for sure: SBOTOP football fans will get to see new Bundesliga 2024 highlights between these two teams this weekend, hence our recommended bet above.

If you think that there will be more than three goals from this fixture, then check out Over 3.50 at 2.12 and Total Goal 4-6 at 2.36.

Meanwhile, it’s also interesting that a Correct Score of 3-0 in favour of the visitors – the result of their reverse fixture – has a whopping offer of 46.00.
