VfB Stuttgart vs Eintracht Frankfurt

VfB Stuttgart are on the cusp of making it to the Champions League next year after surpassing expectations this season. Die Schwaben are currently third in the Bundesliga standings with 60 points, which is level with soon-to-be former champions Bayern Munich.

Sebastian Hoeneß’s men are on an unbeaten run of 11 consecutive matches across all competitions, and a second place berth and a chance to leapfrog Bayern Munich are in their sights.

Eintracht Frankfurt, meanwhile, are in sixth place with 42 points, and they’re looking to claim the only Europa Conference League spot for next season.

However, despite having a six-point cushion over Augsburg and Hoffenheim, they haven’t won in any of their last three league matches, so they’re eager to get back on the winning track.

Talking Points

Guirassy can set a new record for VfB Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart are in this position because of Serhou Guirassy, who is having a spectacular second season in the German top-flight. The 28-year-old has scored 24 goals this season to lead VfB Stuttgart and place second in the ongoing Bundesliga Golden Boot race.

While it’s unlikely that he’ll win the Golden Boot race since Harry Kane is leading by a mile with 32 league goals, Guirassy can make history for Die Schwaben by becoming the first player in team history to score more than 24 goals in a Bundesliga campaign.

The Guinean striker is one of the deserving nominees for March 2024’s Bundesliga Player of the Month because he scored in all four games against VfL Wolfsburg (twice), Union Berlin, Hoffenheim, and Heidenheim, making him the league’s top scorer for the month.

Guirassy also scored the winning goal last time out against Borussia Dortmund in what is one of the biggest Bundesliga 2024 results for VfB Stuttgart this season.

However, Guirassy is not the only one who has made the net bulge many times for VfB Stuttgart because he has a found a reliable strike partner in Deniz Undav, on loan from Brighton.

Undav is the team’s second-leading scorer with 15 goals and seven assists, and it makes you wonder whether VfB Stuttgart will be able to sign him on a permanent deal this summer.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Marmoush held in check

Eintracht Frankfurt are on a winless run because they’ve had trouble finding the back of the net, scoring only two goals in their last three league games.

Bundesliga: Omar Marmoush hasn’t scored a goal since February
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush hopes to end his goal drought when they face Stuttgart

And in their last five league games, their top scorer Omar Marmoush hasn’t found the back of the net. Marmoush’s last goal was a late equaliser in their 2-2 draw against VfL Wolfsburg in late February.

This is also the case for their second-leading scorer, Ansgar Knauff, who last found the back of the net in the team’s 3-3 draw against SC Freiburg in mid-February.

Die Adler need to regain their offencive rhythm fast because four of their next five opponents are all within the top seven (Augsburg, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig), with only Borussia Monchengladbach being the bottom half team.

History

VfB Stuttgart won against Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 in their reverse fixture last November. Deniz Undav scored twice for Die Schwaben while Die Adler benefited from an own goal by Waldemar Anton.

However, VfB Stuttgart haven’t won any of their last five home matches across all competitions against Eintracht Frankfurt (D1, L4), losing each of the last three.

With 60 points after 28 matchdays, VfB Stuttgart are in the midst of their best Bundesliga campaign ever. Their 10-game unbeaten streak in the league is the longest such run since the 2011-12 season under Bruno Labbadia (also 10).

Should they stay unbeaten this weekend, VfB Stuttgart will match their longest undefeated streak in the league back in 2005 under Giovanni Trapattoni (11 games).

Betting Tip

The Bundesliga 2024 odds are in favour of VfB Stuttgart beating Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Sebastian Hoeneß’s side is priced at1.49 to win, whereas Dino Toppmöller’s men are 5.20 underdogs, and a draw is at 4.14 in the 1X2 market.

Besides our recommended bet above, SBOTOP bettors can also look at Over 3.00 at 1.98, Total Goal 2-3 at 2.06, and Total Goal 4-6 at 2.71 since there have been goals between these two sides in recent encounters. A Correct Score of 2-1 in favour of VfB Stuttgart – the result of their reverse fixture – is on offer at 7.40. However, if you feel that it’ll be the other way around, Eintracht Frankfurt fans might get to win as much as 18.00 your bet.
