Fulham vs Liverpool

Many football fans will watch the match between Fulham and Liverpool with great interest given its ramifications in the ongoing Premier League title race between Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool.

Manchester City have a two-point cushion over Arsenal and Liverpool because of last week’s Premier League 2024 results, so both Arsenal and Liverpool are in must-win mode this weekend.

After dropping points against Crystal Palace last time out, Liverpool are planning to bounce back against Fulham, who are looking to make a late push for European football next season.

Fulham are fresh from a 2-0 win against West Ham United on Sunday to improve to 12th place with 42 points, and a win here could see them move to the 10th seed.

Talking Points

Pereira having a solid campaign at Fulham

Fulham have had their share of breakout stars this season, and one of them is their attacking midfielder, Andreas Pereira. The Brazilian is one of the team’s most influential players since he’s their top playmaker this year, with three goals and eight assists this term.

The Cottagers struggled for goals at the start of April, so Pereira’s brace against West Ham United was timely since it kept their European hopes alive.

Fulham overcame a nervy start when Andreas Pereira hit the back of the net in the ninth minute following a failed clearance by Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Andreas Pereira was a threat throughout the match, as he narrowly missed two volleys in the first half before tapping home Alex Iwobi’s cross in front of goal.

Andreas Pereira hasn’t scored in 29 matches since August against Arsenal, before the game against West Ham United. This was also the former Manchester United man’s first Premier League brace in his 111 top-flight appearances.

Against Liverpool on Sunday, look for Pereira to link up with his fellow Brazilian, Rodrigo Muniz, who is also in a rich vein of goal-scoring form lately.

Injury boosts for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp will be forced to rotate his squad once again because Liverpool will play two big games this week. They have a huge mountain to climb against Atalanta in the Europa League quarter-finals before they visit Craven Cottage to take on Fulham.

Fortunately for the Reds, their injury list has eased up a bit, as Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Diogo Jota are all ready to start, while Stefan Bajcetic recently returned to action for the U-21 team last week.

Jota is a candidate to replace Luis Diaz or Darwin Nunez up front, while Alexander-Arnold will likely replace Conor Bradley, who injured his foot in the loss against Crystal Palace after limping off the pitch.

One of the main focuses for Liverpool ahead of their match against Fulham is their defence, since they haven’t secured a clean sheet in their last nine matches across all competitions.

History

Liverpool defeated Fulham 4-3 in their reverse fixture last December, as the Reds benefited from an own goal by Bernd Leno and goals from Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, while Harry Wilson, Kenny Tete, and Bobby Decordova-Reid scored for the Cottagers.

These two rivals met again in the EFL Cup semi-finals a few weeks later, where Liverpool prevailed via an aggregate tally of 3-2. Jurgen Klopp’s men eventually defeated Chelsea in the final for yet another trophy.

Fulham have won just one of their last 11 Premier League encounters with Liverpool (D2, L8), with their last victory being a 1-0 result at Anfield in March 2021.

Despite being unbeaten in their last five Premier League away matches against Fulham (W3, D2), Liverpool haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last eight league games at Craven Cottage since April 2009.

Betting Tip

The Premier League 2024 odds have Liverpool as the favourites to win on Sunday, as they’re priced at 1.49 odds, while Fulham are 4.94 underdogs, and a draw is at 4.38 in the 1X2 market.

Clean sheets are rare in this particular fixture, so fans should expect goals between these two sides this weekend. With that said, our recommended bet is Total Goals 2-3 at 2.18.

Other than that, you may also consider going for bets like Over 3.50 at 2.09, Over 3.00 at 1.61, or even Total Goals 4-6 at 2.24.

Moreover, a Correct Score of 1-1 – the result of their most recent meeting – has a 9.40 offer, while the Correct Score of 4-3 in favour of Liverpool – the result of their reverse fixture – has a staggering offer of 75.00.
