Arsenal vs Everton

Arsenal really made sure that their championship aspirations would have the most cinematic finish in recent Premier League history, as they’ll look to grab the title in the last match of the season against Everton at Emirates Stadium.

Easier said than done? Well, that’s because it is. An Arsenal win doesn’t automatically secure them the Premier League title; moreover, the Gunners would also need Manchester City to lose their match against West Ham United in order for Arteta and his men to lift the trophy at Emirates Stadium.

Certainly, the last slate of matches in the Premier League will be like something from a movie. All the drama, hardships, and sacrifices, as well as the triumphs and successes of Arsenal and Manchester City in particular, will reach their culmination this weekend.

Talking Points

What more can Arsenal do?

Arsenal won their last five top-flight matches in a convincing manner, yet Arteta’s Gunners are still trailing Manchester City by two points in the title race. Now, the question remains: what more can Arsenal do?

The Gunners successfully kept the pressure on the title race in the Premier League. With Liverpool out of the title picture, Arsenal pushed even further and grabbed win after win in hopes of keeping their title aspirations alive.

After their crucial fumble against Aston Villa last month, Arsenal refused to accept any pats on their backs for consolation. Instead, they laced their boots up and proceeded to defeat the likes of Wolves, Chelsea, Tottenham, Bournemouth, and Manchester United.

Now, in front of them stands Everton, an outfit that mustered up stellar Premier League 2024 results at the tail end of the season to claw out of the relegation zone despite their points deduction.

While Arsenal deal with the fact that their fate in the Champions League is more or less out of their hands, Arteta and his men can do nothing but put things in perspective, play their best football against the Toffees, and then maybe, just maybe, the Gunners will emerge as the Premier League 2024 champions.

The Gunners would need every man healthy for their title-deciding clash against Everton, and luckily for their fans, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirmed that their star winger, Bukayo Saka, was “fine” after the 22-year-old came off the pitch during their decisive win over Manchester United last Sunday.

Everton’s blazing finish

While the result of this upcoming clash isn’t that detrimental to the outcome of Everton’s season, SBOTOP football fans should still expect a competitive outing from the Toffees.

Everton have been one of the surprise packages in the 2023–24 season. Things were looking grim in the early parts of the campaign, and when the points deduction was sanctioned, some already considered the Toffees season to be over. Or so they thought.

Sean Dyche and his men, out of nowhere, made doubters into believers and made Goodison Park a place of football magic once again.

The Toffees prove to be one of the hottest teams in the top flight as of late, joining the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Crystal Palace to be unbeaten in their last five Premier League contests.

On top of that, Everton might see the return of Andre Gomes in the lineup against Arsenal, although they will be without the services of Jack Harrison, Vitalii Mykolenko, Dele Alli, and Nathan Patterson due to injuries.

History

In a total of 62 games since 1995, Arsenal have bossed their past head-to-heads against Everton, winning 40 of those 62 matches, while the Toffees have only secured 12 wins and tallied 10 draws to boot.

Both outfits have been scorching in their recent forms. Everton are unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches, while Arsenal are without a loss in the top flight since their 0-2 defeat against Aston Villa on April 14.

In their most recent matchup, Everton played host at Goodison Park, but even with home advantage, they fell short against the visiting Arsenal, who managed to steal a slim 0-1 victory.

Betting Tip

It would be a stunning sight to see Arsenal lose their season finale at Emirates Stadium, which is why the Premier League 2024 betting odds have the Gunners as the overwhelming favourites to win at 1.16, while the shorthanded Everton are the major underdogs at 11.00 with a draw price of 6.60.

It’s hard to imagine Arsenal falling short, especially with how much this match means to their title aspirations, but their price of 1.16 might be too safe for punters to consider. Instead, my betting tip is First Half Over 1.50 at 2.05.

I expect that Arsenal will be hot off the gates against Everton, as they’ll have no choice but to win if they’d like to lift the Premier League trophy by the end of the night.
